Talking about Benefact Group – tools and resources

These tools and resources are designed to help you talk about the Benefact Group – the way we work, the way we give and our ambitions to grow and give even more.

The story of why we do what we do every day is truly inspiring. By giving our customers and clients the best products and services we can, we grow. And as we grow, we give more. It means that every day we work is more than just ‘another day in the office’ – it’s an opportunity to make positive change. Let’s share our story.

What it means to be a Benefact Group Company

We are a Benefact Group Company

Being part of the Benefact Group means we’re driven by something bigger. We use our expertise to give customers the [add what your customers know you for here] they need. But the results of our work go so much further.

We turn business success into real impact by giving all available profits to good causes. Measuring our achievements by what we give – and not what we keep – is what makes us A Benefact Group Company.

  • The companies are all specialists in their fields.

How we give

The more the businesses in our Group grow, the more we can give. It’s this purpose that drives our success every day.

Across the Group we give in four main ways:

  • Our Group

We give directly to a wide range of charities through a range of donation programmes. These include Pay it Forward –   an innovative programme that invites charities tell us who to fund and Movement for Good where anyone can nominate a charity for a donation.

  • Our Colleagues

MyGiving is our colleague driven programme, where individuals donate time and money through company grants and fundraising matching, to causes that are personally important.

  • Our Businesses

Many of the businesses that make up the Group have their own giving programmes, supporting causes that mean the most to their communities and customers.

  • Our Trust

Our charitable owner, the Benefact Trust, independently award grants to a range of charities.

Where we give – the giving map

The Giving Map shows the charities we’ve donated to through the Benefact Movement for Good programme and our Pay it Forward programme.

People are always interested in where we’ve given near them and it’s a great conversation starter – you simply type in the postcode and it will show you all the charities in that area. Watch this video to see how it works.

Talk about the Benefact Group Movement for Good

The Movement for Good Awards is our very popular annual programme of giving donating over £1 million. It’s made up of three main parts:

  1. £1,000 draws

Anyone (our brokers, customers, colleagues, friends, family etc) can nominate their favourite charity to be in the draw to win £1,000. The more nominations a charity gets, the greater their chance of winning.

  2. Special draws

We run short term ‘special draws’ around a chosen theme a few times a year – donations of £5,000 are awarded

  3. Large grants

We also make larger grants through the programme. The way we do this changes from time to time. Visit the website to find out more.

The Movement for Good Awards programme is a great opportunity to engage with family and friends through sharing in your WhatsApp groups, chatting in a cafe or at the school gate. We’ve seen great engagement and nominations through these routes and they’re a really easy way to spread the word.

Ask your network to nominate now.

Benefact Group’s climate position

The Benefact Group is committed to making a positive environmental impact. We have set an ambition to become ‘Net Zero’ by 2040 which means:

  • Measuring

Publishing an annual footprint including our energy use for example, but also footprinting the Group’s equity investments which are 82% lower than the general fund benchmark.

  • Decarbonising

Which means reducing our impact wherever we can. We’re moving into more energy efficient office spaces, more of our fleet is electric and we’ve launched an electric car lease scheme for employees.

  • Offsetting

For carbon we can’t reduce quite yet we believe investing in projects overseas which deliver a positive carbon benefit is a good thing.

  • Giving

This is quite distinctive for our Group, we have given more than £680,000 to climate and environment charities through our Movement for Good Programme. This includes researching the climate impact on historic properties with English Heritage or funding the rewilding of a site in Somerset with Heal Rewilding.

Take the opportunity to talk about:

  • The environmental initiatives in your business
  • How you are reducing the impact of our offices
  • How you are supporting customers reduce their impact through advice, support and new products and services
